What to Wear
The dress in Male’ is generally casual. T-shirts and cotton clothing are recommended. There’s no need to bring warm clothing.
Women
It is recommended that women wear modest clothing without bearing too much. Women’s dress is not as restricted as in many Muslim countries. It is not necessary to cover you head, although we advise you to cover upper arms and legs above the knee. Therefore, no daisy duke (short shorts) or tank tops. Women should bring light cotton pants, shirts, skirts, and dresses.
Swim Wear
We advise women to wear shorts and a T-shirt when swimming in Male’ and Villingili.
Men
There are no restrictions on men’s clothing. You can where what you want.
Shoes are not usually worn inside houses; therefore slip-in/out (backless) sandals are most suitable.
There are a few Laundry Services in Male’, but no dry-cleaning services.
